The Marietta Declaration Endorsed at GOP County Conventions
More Candidates and Elected Officials Sign Document as Momentum Builds
Marietta, Georgia – March 12, 2012 – The Georgia Tea Party™ (GTPI), a non-partisan advocacy group headquartered in Marietta, GA, announced today that the Marietta Declaration received endorsements from the Cobb County GOP and the Glynn County GOP at the statewide county conventions held this past Saturday.
In Cobb County, the endorsement was part of an omnibus resolution entitled Individual Liberty that included education/school choice language, abortion, doctor-assisted suicide and other issues.
The Glynn County endorsement came in the form of a ‘stand-alone’ resolution entitled Resolution In Support of The Marietta Declaration.
Georgia Tea Party Board member and author of The Marietta Declaration, Jim Jess, stressed the importance of these two endorsements. “Obviously, it was extremely important to get the endorsement of the Cobb County GOP since we are headquartered here, but the endorsement from Glynn County in Southeast Georgia indicates that the document has resonated throughout the state. The fact that we continue to get numerous encouraging comments from people in other states, including California, Washington, Missouri, Massachusetts and elsewhere tells us that The Marietta Declaration has broad appeal to all patriotic Americans. We expect the document will have a strong national impact”
The Marietta Declaration also is gaining momentum among candidates and elected officials with more of them signing on each day. Among the recent signers are: GOP Presidential Candidate Ron Paul, Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens, Candidate for Cobb County State Court Judge Marsha Lake, Candidate for, Cobb County Commission Chairman Bill Byrne, Georgia State Rep.
