Georgia Tea Party Cites EPA’s Misapplication of the Clean Air Act
Letter to EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, points out serious problems
Marietta, Georgia – January 16, 2012 – In a letter (attached) sent to EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson , The Georgia Tea Party (GTPI), a non-partisan advocacy group headquartered in Marietta, said that the EPA’s recent regulatory proposals exceed the authority of that agency and, in fact, are a misapplication of the Clean Air Act. The letter states that rather than limiting harmful pollutants, as specified by the Clean Air Act, the EPA’s new rules attempt to regulate carbon dioxide, which occurs naturally as a bi-product of animal respiration and is essential for the very existence of all plant life on Earth.
GTPI board member, Patti Gettinger, commented that this recent flurry of EPA regulations appears to target industrial use of coal, which is one of the cheapest and most abundant sources of energy in the United States. “If implemented, these regulations would impose compliance costs reaching hundreds of billions of dollars that utilities would have to pass on to the consumer. This would have a devastating affect on the economy and particularly on low income and fixed income families throughout the country.”
In addition, the EPA’s actions have serious national security ramifications, in that these regulations will greatly increase the nation’s dependence upon unpredictable foreign energy sources,” Ms. Gettinger said.

The Georgia Tea Party had a lively discussion about this pending legislation in the House and Senate. Check out this report from David Huffman, a GTP volunteer, that highlights the dangers and technical difficulties with this legislation. Because of the outcry from citizens and blackouts from sites like Wikipedia and Google, the Congress has stalled this legislation. But don’t think that it is going away.

Dr. Tony Orta talk spoke at the George Tea Party (GTP) meeting last night. He has a message every American needs to hear and pay attention too.
Mr. Orta is a a naturalized American of Cuban descent. He came to the United States at the age of 16, not because he wanted to but to escape the Castro regime. He knew no one, little English and was in a strange land but he managed to make the best of the situation because of the opportunities America offers to anyone who is willing to work and strive to succeed. He has held CEO positions with major companies and has his B.A. and Doctorate in Business from the University of Georgia. His Masters degree was obtained in Switzerland. Tony said, “Since this regime was elected, and since it is almost a facsimile of the actions I saw taken in my native Cuba, and since I once lost a country to this ideology, I could not sit by and watch my country be lost. So, I have been quite active speaking when I can and trying to persuade when I can.” He has been a guest speaker at the many tea party events/meetings, including Gilmer, Pickens, Dawson, Fannin, Cherokee, and Canton.
The presentation by Octavio (Tony) Orta is a call to WAKE UP; the USA is heading in the same direction as Cuba circa 1959. It has been 53 years since the Cubans were changed, and they have not yet been able to reverse the “CHANGE”.
